Former CIA Officer McGovern on the CIA & Ukraine War (PART 1)

In this episode of The Source, we talk with a former CIA officer Ray McGovern about his experience at the CIA and why he decided to return the Intelligence Commendation Medal that he received when he retired in 1990. We also have an in-depth and contextual discussion about the war in Ukraine.

ABOUT RAY McGOVERN: Raymond McGovern is a former Central Intelligence Agency employee turned political commentator and activist. During his 27 years as a CIA analyst, he was chief of the Soviet Foreign Policy Division in the 1960s and deputy National Intelligence Officer for Western Europe in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he chaired the National Intelligence Estimates and prepared the President's Daily Brief. Upon retirement, he received the CIA's Intelligence Commendation Medal, which he returned in 2006 to protest CIA involvement in torture. In 2003, he co-founded Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS).
